Hello neighbours, Our much loved female eclectus parrot, Portia, went missing today. When we both got home after work at 1700hrs we found her flock calling to us in a gum tree on Czars St, Hamilton 4006. She attempted to fly down to us a few times but struggled to navigate the strong winds. She ended up flying over neighbours into a big tree around 40-50 Hipwood rd. Her survival instincts have kicked in and she has stopped returning our calls. We hope she finds a safe roost for the night. We are very worried. If you see her please contact us Kristine 0422195795 or Matt 0406225400 Female eclectus are always red with blue/purple chests. She is comfortable with humans and will step up to your hand. Her special treats (not a staple in her diet) include: almonds, sunflower seeds and pine nuts. She is microchipped. To deter those who are tempted to keep her please be aware that she is bonded with us and it would be very distressing for her. These birds require specialised care and require Wildlife 2 licences to keep in QLD. Please keep an eye out.. Contactable 24 hours a day.
